Easy rail access to Central London
Our nearest train station is Lingfield, which is a 45 minute journey to London Victoria. Lingfield train station is a five minute taxi drive from Long Acres. The taxi should cost approximately £5. You won't often find taxis waiting outside the station, so you may find it easier to pre-order a taxi from Western Cars on 01342 300 000.

Lingfield Village
The local village to our campsite is Lingfield, which is about 1 mile away. There are many restaurants, pubs and takeaways. There are also two small supermarkets, as well as bakeries, a wine store and a pharmacy.

Wildlife and forest walks
We are surrounded by public footpaths and bordered by a bridle path (which is suitable for cycling). There is an interactive map on the Surrey County Council website which is very useful for plotting your route. Just enter our postcode (RH7 6LE) and you'll be able to see all the information.

The Bluebell Steam Railway
The Bluebell Steam Railway is a five minute drive from Long Acres (for the East Grinstead station). The Bluebell Railway offers rides, afternoon teas and lunches. One of the stations is close to the Bluebell Vineyard, which is worth a visit if you like wine.

Hever Castle
Hever Castle is probably our most popular local attraction. Built in 13th century it has huge historical significance being the former home of Anne Boleyn (second wife of Henry VIII) and the Astor family who owned it for 80 years from 1903. It is a wonderful day out for both adults and children alike, there is something for everyone. The castle itself, Italian ornamental gardens, rowing lake, the ancient yew maze as well as the water maze, have a go archery and jousting in the summer months.

Deers Leap Mountain Biking
Deers Leap Mountain Biking is a ten minute drive from Long Acres. It offers bike and safety equipment hire and has a number of tracks (suitable for all levels) around the private area.

Tarana Restaurant, Lingfield
Tarana’s chefs have bought together a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, all freshly prepared, for you to enjoy. You can either eat them in the lovely restaurant or get a take-away to enjoy in your tent or caravan.

The Greyhound
The oldest pub in Lingfield, a traditional 17th Century Inn with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The friendly Landlord Dean will welcome you in to this cosy pub.

Wakehurst Place
Wakehurst botanical gardens is a fifteen minute drive from Long Acres. Wakehurst is owned by the National Trust but used and managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. It has an impressive variety of trees set over 500 acres. You'll find an Elizabethan mansion surrounded by formal, walled gardens, which lead on to water gardens, meadow land and an aboratorium.

Godstone Vineyard
Godstone Vineyard is a local award-winning vineyard. They offer self-guided tours, tastings (minimum of six) and there is a small tea room where you can sample local wines and sparkling wines.

Godstone Farm
Godstone Farm is just down the road from Long Acres, it is a fun day out for all the family. There are lots of interesting animals, several play areas and even when it is raining there is fun to be had by all!

The finest collection of native wildlife in Britain with over forty different native species from tiny harvest mice to magnificent red deer.

Take a walk on the wild side with this Wild West themed restaurant. You never leave hungry, service is always with a smile and the food is tasty. Be warned: the portion sizes are designed for hungry cowboys! Yee ha!

Tammy's Thai is a further ten minutes from the Wiremill Inn on the Lake. You can reach Tammy's Thai by walking to the Wiremill and continuing down Wire Mill Lane.

Driver Wood paintball is a ten minute drive from Long Acres. Driver Wood Paintball is set over 40 acres of woodland and is full of places to hide and creep up on the opposition.

Chiddingstone Castle is a twenty minute drive from Long Acres. Open during the summer months, Chiddingstone Castle is home to one of the most impressive and eclectic collections of curiosities and historical artefacts. Chiddingstone Castle holds an annual literary festival which has a fantastic reputation.

Chartwell (Sir Winston Churchill)
Chartwell, the much loved family home of Sir Winston Churchill is now owned by the National Trust. His home for over 40 years, it is full of Churchill memorabilia and the gardens are a feast for the eyes whatever the season.

The National Cat Centre is a twenty minute drive from Long Acres and is set in Ashdown Forest.

London Temple
The 12th operating temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter day Saints. This striking Mormon temple is set in historic, manicured gardens which are open, along with a visitor centre, to non Latter day Saint members.

Standen House and Gardens
Standen House and Gardens is an impressive Arts and Craft movement house owned by the National Trust. With William Morris interiors and surrounded by formal gardens, vegetable gardens and a woodland estate that you can ramble through, it’s a must for a great day out.

Weir Wood Reservoir
Kayaking at Weir Wood Reservoir is a fifteen minute drive from Long Acres. If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land then you can hike part or all the way round the reservoir instead.

Tulleys Farm Escape Room and Tearooms is a fifteen minute drive from Long Acres. It is an immersive, action packed experience. They offer a range of different puzzles to suit different age groups. There is a range of outdoor pursuits also on offer at Tulleys Farm.

There is a crop of sandstone rocks, known as Standen Rocks, near to Weir Wood Reservoir. Many of our guests enjoy a walk around the reservoir and a scramble over the rocks during their stay at Long Acres.

Rosie's Coffee Lounge is in Lingfield Village and has a children's play area. In school holidays there are often special events at Rosie's however please be aware that the coffee lounge is not open at weekends. Joyces with Best Wishes is also in Lingfield Village and serve tea, coffee, cake and small meals. Joyce and her husband have been a part of Lingfield for nearly as long as Long Acres, we highly recommend a cup of tea and two of the homemade chocolate truffles.

For special occasions, we recommend Gravetye Manor. Gravetye Manor uses ingredients grown in the kitchen garden to create a seasonal menu. Book early to ensure you can also squeeze in a tour of the kitchen garden.

The Curious Pig in the Parlour is a five minute drive from Long Acres Camping, we highly recommend booking. Our reception team will be happy to make the booking for you or alternatively you can book through the website. Just google 'Curious Pig Copthorne' and that should bring up the pub.

The Worth Way
The Worth Way is a disused railway track which has been repurposed for walkers, cyclists and riders. It's a lovely place to go for a walk or cycle as there's no cars and it's flat! You can either go towards Crawley or you can go through Forest Row where you can join the Forest Way and cycle all the way to Tunbridge Wells.

We recommend The Real Pizza Company for pizza deliveries direct to Long Acres Camping. We have menus in reception or you can visit the website. Please give our name and postcode (RH7 6LE).

Outdoor pursuits at Blacklands Farm is a fifteen minute drive from Long Acres and has a range of outdoor pursuits such as abseiling, a climbing wall and archery.

Ashdown Forest
The Ashdown Forest is an ancient area of tranquil open heathland occupying the sandy ridge-top of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is home to Winnie the Pooh and friends. Children and adults alike can enjoy playing pooh sticks or hunting for Rabbit's warren - just remember to keep an eye out for heffalumps and woozles on your walks! It's also a lovely place to go for a hack. We recommend Ashdown Riding as you can hack directly on to the forest without any roadwork.
